The Wisconsin Watercolor Society was founded in 1952 by a group of Wisconsin artists. It was the first Wisconsin art organization to be devoted exclusively to watercolor painting. Its purpose now as then has always been to demonstrate and exhibit meaningful development in the medium of watercolor and to serve as a catalyst for those genuinely interested in watercolor.

Artist Biography

I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. My love of art led me to major in art and design at Michigan State University. I later graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) in mathematics/computer science and a minor in art/design. I have had the good fortune to study under Helga Flower, Mary Ann Beckwith, Kathleen Conover, Karen Knutson, John Salminen, Sterling Edwards, Joy Moon, Ratinda Das, Antonio Masi, Joe Rayome, and Jean Pederson.

My interest in art led me to design a mural for Leigh’s Winery in Escanaba, MI, and several construction murals for Fox Valley Technical College, Appleton, WI. I have taught experimental watercolor and mixed media techniques for the City of Appleton’s Creative Journey, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Green Bay, WI, and Shawano Lake Golf Club, Shawano, WI where many of my paintings publicly hang. I was selected and painted several pieces for the Shawano County Historical Society fundraiser events.

In 2024, I was selected as the featured artist for the Bonifas Art Center exhibition where I displayed over 30 paintings. I have been invited to teach at the Bonifas Art Center in 2025. My work has also been displayed at numerous national juried exhibitions. I have received numerous awards.

I am a member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, Lake Superior Art Association, Bonifas Fine Arts Center, and a signature member of ISEA, (International Society of Experimental Artists, Nautilus Fellow).

Artist Statement

A painter, I work in mixed media and all paint types. My subject matter ranges to express beauty, mood, and history. I thank God for my affinity for seeing the world through the eyes of an artist. The world is a beautiful place.
