The Wisconsin Watercolor Society was founded in 1952 by a group of Wisconsin artists. It was the first Wisconsin art organization to be devoted exclusively to watercolor painting. Its purpose now as then has always been to demonstrate and exhibit meaningful development in the medium of watercolor and to serve as a catalyst for those genuinely interested in watercolor.

Chris Sommerfelt Painting Featured on Cover of The Color of Light Exhibition Catalog

A painting by Chris Sommerfelt is featured on the cover of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society’s The Color of Light exhibition catalog, on view at the Phippen Museum in Prescott, AZ (March 22–April 26, 2026). Two of his works are included in the juried show

Diane Bochler Shabino Juried into 2026 IL Watercolor Society  National Exhibition

From Diane: Thank you Kris Parins for jurying my painting “Blue Flag Water’s Edge” into the 2026 Illinois Watercolor Society 42nd National Exhibition!

The exhibition is from May 1 to May 30 with the reception and awards on May 2 at the Next Picture Show in Dixon Illinois

Laurie Runnoe Wins Best of Show at the League of Milwaukee Artists Exhibit

From Laurie: I’m so happy my painting “Sheltering” was awarded a ribbon for Best of Show at the League of Milwaukee Artists Exhibit today. This is one of my favorite paintings so far and it certainly is in the good company of other beautiful artworks.

The exhibit can be seen at Impressions Fine Art Gallery in Sheboygan, WI.

Lisa Englander Wins Third Place in The Watercolor Wisconsin 2026 Exhibition

WWS member Lisa Englander received a Third Place Award for Vessel Series #17, a transparent watercolor.
Judges included Jessica Cochrane (Renaissance Society, Chicago) and Peggy Macnamara (Field Museum; SAIC).

Show runs through April 18, 2026 at the Racine Art Museum.
